In a cup Kenya Karimikui It all begins with a juicy explosion of red currants. A moment later, sweet raspberries appear – ripe, full-bodied, and slightly jammy. The fruitiness is pronounced, but not overwhelming. It has an elegance and precision that carry the flavor further.

A delicate tea structure develops in the background – reminiscent of black tea with a fruity accent – lending the whole a light and refined feel. The finish is rounded off by a caramel sweetness that smooths the profile and makes each sip harmonious, pure, and incredibly satisfying.

This coffee boasts high clarity, characteristic of washed processing. This process creates a clear, juicy, and structured profile, with all the notes resonating precisely where they should. The SL-28 and SL-34 varieties bring intense, winey-fruity acidity and complexity, while the Baitan builds structure and balance.

The result? A cup full of energy, freshness, and elegant sweetness. Bold, yet perfectly balanced. Perfect for sipping when you want to experience the classic Kenya in its most refined form.

A classic that never goes out of style

Kenya

The varietals in Kenya Karimikui are classics that have defined the character of the best Kenyan coffees for decades. SL-28 and SL-34 are legendary selections created in the 1930s. They are responsible for what is most characteristic of Kenya – intense, juicy acidity, distinct red fruit notes, and a deep, almost wine-like, fruity structure. SL-28 is renowned for its exceptional complexity and a long, clean finish, while SL-34 contributes fuller body and more pronounced sweetness. Baitan, on the other hand, is a newer varietal that enhances crop resilience while maintaining elegance and balance in the cup. It adds harmony to the profile, stabilizes the structure, and accentuates the coffee's natural sweetness. This combination ensures that Kenya Karimikui has everything we expect from Kenyan terroir: the vibrancy of red fruits, a tea-like finesse, and a distinct yet noble acidity.

Karimikui

Unique profile

Karimikui is one of the processing stations belonging to the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society in the Kirinyaga region – a place that has been building the reputation of Kenyan specialty coffees for years. Located at an altitude of 1600–1800 m above sea level, it benefits from fertile, volcanic soils and a cooler climate, which favors the slow ripening of the fruit. This extended maturation time is what builds intensity and complexity of flavor in the bean. Local smallholder farmers deliver their harvests to Karimikui – often owning small plots with several hundred coffee trees. The fruit is carefully selected already at the harvesting stage and then undergoes a precisely controlled washed processing method. Fermentation, washing, and drying on raised beds take place under the watchful eye of a team that ensures cleanliness and consistency of profile. This is a place where tradition meets experience. Karimikui is renowned for coffees with a distinct, juicy body and a clear, elegant character – precisely what you will find in this cup.

How to brew?

Przelew V60

1. WEIGHT

We recommend using 18.5 grams of coffee per 300 grams of water. This will result in a juicy brew with a pleasant body.

2. GRIND

Select the grind size so that the brewing time is around 3 minutes and 30 seconds.

3. BREW

We recommend distributing water at 94˚C in 6 portions of 50 grams. After a 30-second pre-infusion, add water every 15 seconds.

4. WATCH

If the brewing time differs from the recommended time, or the flavor isn't to your liking, adjust the grinder settings next time you make your coffee. Let your taste and preferences guide you!
